Later when I googled "La mer" I found and listened to Bobby Darin's version in a song called "Beyond the Sea" which is just as sweet but not as romantic as the voice of a frenchman singing "La Mer". This song can brighten any dull or depressing moment in your life with no exceptions. Take my word of it :)
We ll as usual I have the lyrics of the song pulled together, and if you're french or know how to speak french here goes.
Charles Trenet Lyrics - La Mer
La mer
Qu'on voit danser le long des golfes clairs
A des reflets d'argent
La mer
Des reflets changeants
Sous la pluie
La mer
Au ciel d'ete confond
Ses blancs moutons
Avec les anges si purs
La mer bergere d'azurInfinie
Voyez
Pres des etangs
Ces grands roseaux mouilles
Voyez
Ces oiseaux blancs
Et ces maisons rouillees
La mer
Les a berces
Le long des golfes clairs
Et d'une chanson d'amour
La mer
A berce mon coeur pour la vie
Try and pick up this song if you have even one romantic - music loving bone in your body or atleast try out for the number sung by dear old Bobby Darin called beyond the sea. Unfortunately not as dramatic as the French original 'La mer' but nevertheless a great song. French love songs, the actual love songs are very satisfying. They can drive the passion in you. I thought i'd just add in the lyrics for 'beyond the sea' even though they are not all that fantastic. Giving Mr. Darin his due, here we go:
Bobby Darin - Beyond the Sea
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waiting for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailin'
Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on a high
Then straight to her arms
I'd go sailing
It is far beyond the stars
It is near beyond the moon
But I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing
And I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet (I know we'll meet) beyond the shore
We're gonna kiss just as before
And happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing
No more sailing
So long sailing...
Bye bye sailing...
